Significance of our ArSha itihAsa

Was discussing with my better half about muchukunda, the son of mAndhAtA, how he helped the dEvas to victory over the asuras and when he returned back to earth he could not find any of his kith & kin, all having died since long. Dejected & forlorn he asked dEvarAja indra why this happenned. indra told him there's a great difference between the time in dEvalOka and pRthvIlOka so when muchukunda returned from dEvalOka back to pRthvIlOka many aeons had passed by(Cf. Time Dilation http://www.phy.olemiss.edu/HEP/QuarkNet/time.html ). indra offered muchukunda to ask for a boon for great help he rendered to the dEvas in defeating the asuras in the dEvAsura saMgrAma. muchukunda said he was extremely tired as well as sad so he asked for a boon of uninterrupted sleep, shakra granted him thus and that anyone/anything interrupting his sleep will be incinerated. His sleep was interrupted once when kAlayavana(Cf. mathurA's Greek invasion) mistook muchukunda for kRShna,kicked him to be burnt to ashes. kRShna later guided muchukunda to do SAdhanA in upper himAlayas. muchukunda like ashvatthAmA is believed to be immortal and alive till date. My better half asked if i believe muchukunda & ashvatthAmA are alive today. I said: "I've no reason to disbelieve our shAstra/itihAsa/purAna. And i ought to believe in my sacred literature even more when our perpetual enemies, the memetic abrahamic rakShas, are pulverising us like never before,having incrementally destroyed so much of us already in last millenium. We ought to believe & honour our ancestors, our duty. We survive if we remember, honour and repay our great ancestors.
