Tragic history of Iran(and Iraq,its offspring by colonial rape) and the origin of Sunni Shia conflict-
Pahlava/Pahlavi is cognate of Parthiva. In Iranian languages 'rth' is rolled over to 'll'. Parthiva means from Prithu. Prithu was the first king who tamed the earth thus earth is called Prithvi. In bhAgavatapurANa & brahmavaivartapurANa the genealogy of kings & geography of world is clearly mentioned which correlates Prithu to the region south/southeast to today's Caspian sea ie Tehran region.
Indo-Iranian civilisation is ancient Persia till conversion to Islam. Then its middle Persia & modern Persia. Then its Iran since 1979. Verily Persia=Iran.
Persians called themselves Iran/Eran ie Aryan. GreekoRomans called them Persians as the dominant dynasty as well as province since those times was from Pars/Parsua(meaning- the backside, as it was the plateau beyond the mountains till desert & seas...cognate with samskritam pArshva). Parsi too is derived from same. Fars/Farsi is arabisation of Pars/Parsi.
Mesopotamia since last 5000 years has been a part of Indo-Iranian empires thru Arabian Islamic invasion till the British artificially carved Iraq out of Persia for their Oil+strategic interests.
Hassan & Hussein were Ali's sons thru the Persian Zoroastrian princess Shahrbanu(daughter of Persian emperor Yazdgard III) who was captured by Arab Islamic invaders when she was a child 3 years old and married off to Ali. When Persia/Iran eventually got converted to Islam they kept their identity separate from Arabs by not accepting the first three caliphs while recognizing only Ali,the 4th caliph as the first+true one because of his Persian wife. This is the root cause of Shia Sunni feud & thus it will never end till one party is completely annihilated as its a civilsational existential identity war.
