Hassan & Hussein were Ali's sons thru the Persian Zoroastrian princess Shahrbanu(daughter of Persian emperor Yazdgard III) who was captured by Arab Islamic invaders when she was a child 3 years old and married off to Ali. When Persia/Iran eventually got converted to Islam they kept their identity separate from Arabs by not accepting the first three caliphs while recognizing only Ali,the 4th caliph as the first+true one because of his Persian wife. This is the root cause of Shia Sunni feud & thus it will never end till one party is completely annihilated as its a civilsational existential identity war.

My favourite players in football are Chilavert & Schmeichel

At last the football world cup caught up with me.

If I have to name one favourite team its Germany with Oliver Kahn(Goalkeeper) & Oliver Bierhoff(Striker) being my favourite players.

But my all-time favourites are goalkeeping greats & respective captains Jose Luiz Gonzalez Chilavert of Paraguay & Peter Schmeichel of Denmark.
These are not just great players but also they singlehandedly & carishmatically took their respective quite mediocre teams to great heights.

Chilavert was not just a goalie but he was a goalscorer too & so was Schmeichel. But the real maverick & daringly inspirational leader was Chilavert the 'bulldog' who used to leave his goalpost to attack the opposition goalpost..! I'm very fortunate to have watched them.

They were not just giants in the game but literally towered on field too. Chilavert was almost 6'2" & 105 KGs weighing Schmeichel was nearly 6'4"!

Chilavert's Paraguay lost in pre-quarters in 1998 to France(eventual champion) by a golden goal & in 2002 pre-quarters to Germany(subsequently runners up) by single goal in dying minutes. He was included in the 1998 FIFA All Star Team.

Schmeichel led the Danes to European Championship victory in 1992. Schmeichel's Denmark lost in 1998 quarterfinals to ultimate runners up Brazil by 3-2 margin.
I've been lucky to watch all their WC matches.
Paraguay,in particular, was a craze in our hostel/college thanks to the 'bulldog'..!
In a way both were unlucky to be born in mediocre footballing nations or else they would have become champions too like Casillas. Or at least got the fame of greats like Lev Yashin, Peter Shilton, Dino Zoff & Gordon Banks.

P.S.- I've a soft corner for underdogs & admiration for goalkeepers.

The crux of Sai cult debate

This Sai-cult debate is not about democracy or freedom, its more than that: about acculturation & appropriation of our heritage by alien & insidiously dangerous elements who'll ruin our very fundamentals. Its about who are we & what we will be?

What'll we tell our children when they'll ask who is "SaiRam or SaiKrishna or Sai in Gayatri mantra"? Or "who's this devious looking bearded God having biggest idol in all temples"? What's the meaning of "tanno Sai prachodayat" & how does it replace "dhiyo yonah prachodayat"?
Does this cut-insert-paste job not make the meaning of the true original mantra totally diabolical gibberish...?!

These're just few of many examples of the great visible dangers (not counting the invisible ones) posed by this highly infectious cult of purported quick results & instant bhakti.
Some critics are not incorrect to call it bhakti-jihad.

The concern is not Islamic infiltration but the weaning away of Hindus for the lure of instant-mAyA & our resultant divisions,internecine feuds, weakening & decay.
If freedom of faith & religion is the sole & final criteria what's wrong with any other alien faith,say, an abrahamic faith?

One not so great thing about this PSLV launch

Four great things about this  PSLV  launch-

1. Our PM present on site.
2. Five foreign satellites launched.
3. Modi ji mentioned Upanishads & said Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
4. Our PM pointed out that even the Mangalyan mission cost lesser than the movie Gravity.

Not so great thing -

PM Modi ji wants SAARC countries to be a part of our space research programme.  Which will only lead to espionage,theft,sabotage & great risk even permanent damage to our space,defence & nuclear programmes.

The real story or history behind roza ban by China.

China,Communist or not,since time immemorial has a clearly cut out policy for non-Chinese cultures & faith ever since the Qin(Chin) dynasty(2300 yrs ago) through Qing(Ching) dynasty(abolished in 1911) till date.
The Qins based their rule on State-Legalism ie the supremacy of the Chinese state alone, furthered by the empire. While the next dynasty Hans(after whom the ethnic Chinese are thus named) reversed the Qin polity and brought in Confucianism (now simply known as Chinese philosophy)

All the subsequent empires followed an admixture of both Confucianism as well as Han legalism till Buddhism was gradually inculcated/assimilated into both.
When Mongols conquered China in 12th C they were sinicised(chinified to say) as per above three main philosophies instead of mongolifying China. The Qing dynasty(16th C till 1911) too was a non-Chinese dynasty of Manchus but their manchuising succeeded only till a point & even they ended up adopting the troika of Chinese culture.
After we've known the intricate history of China its to be emphasised that even the communism is nothing but old Han legalism.

And nothing in China is acceptable at any cost which comes out of the purview of the triad. Just refer to the Dungan rebellion of late 19th C where nearly a crore muslims were killed with impunity & dispatched to meet 72 houris & gilmans.
Then there's the Taiping rebellion of mid 19th C wherein 2 crores plus Christians/sympathisers were sent to their purported heaven without mercy. After the Communist takeover of China in 1949 till 1970s nearly 6.5 crore people were cleared off their existence by the Han legalism influenced supremo Mao Dzedong. Not to mention the pre-'modern' era. This roza ban is nothing compared to that.

Enjoy the rains in Mumbai Metro..! The vents on the roofs are letting the rains in and no one pre-tested this!! Got to know that the coaches are from china...no wonders they supplied us this junk! But the biggest culprits are Reliance who messed the Delhi Airport Metro too and left in a huff after there were major structural defects. I pointed out two years ago that Delhi airport metro is a major scam and of course no authority listened. Reliance got the two metro projects despite having no experience whatsoever in railways/metro.
